Stephanie Gray Installed as President-Elect of the MA PTA

Wareham, MA – SMH Electronics is proud to announce that Stephanie Gray, Sales and Marketing Director, has been installed as the President-Elect of the MA Parent Teachers Association. In addition to providing IT sales, support and repair service to many of the municipalities and schools across the region; SMH Electronics encourages all of our employees to give back to the community through volunteerism.

“I am proud to have this opportunity to represent and support the 17,000 members of the PTA across this state,” said Gray. “There is much work we, the PTA, do that goes unseen – advocating for our children’s future at the local, state and national level. PTA is not just a fundraising organization. We have been instrumental in promoting the common core standards for our children’s education and are currently working with the Department of Education on improving the quality of the education here in Massachusetts. I feel very fortunate to have an employer who believes as strongly as I do in the future of our children and supports me in that goal.”

Turning a Tinkers Passion into a Thriving Electronics Company

Wareham-based SMH Electronics is also turning increasingly ‘green’BY PLYMOUTH COUNTY BUSINESS STAFF

Victoria Zaccaria and Stephen Harris have owned and managed SMH Electronics for two decades, continually expanding its mission from repairing office equipment and reselling it to providing companies of all sizes with network services.
Now the West Wareham firm is reinventing itself as a green business.
“In many ways, we have been green all along, and certainly before it was in vogue,” said Zaccaria, who manages the company while her husband, Harris, leads its ever-growing technology missions.
“We’ve always recognized the importance and appeal of our work,” she said.
“Restoring and upgrading older equipment not only saves money for our clients, but it reduces the need to dispose of the equipment.”
In some cases, SMH will find new homes for old equipment, donating or recycling it for housings and components for new products.
To help the company reveal its “best kept secret,” the husband/wife team is increasing its sales and marketing efforts. “We have a great story to tell,” she said.
SMH Electronics’ historically muted approach is evident in its location, a low slung, nondescript building deep within a West Wareham industrial park. But, once inside, a complex of connected
rooms and workbenches reveals the unique technical creativity of Harris, who is a self-described tinkerer.
World-famous brand names dominate the interior landscape, and for good reason. SMH is an authorized service center for the likes of Brother, Hewlett Packard, Epson, Lexmark, LG Electronics, Okidata and Tektronix.
Much of the equipment is undergoing 24-hour turnaround, as time is of the essence for clients. “We specialize in high-quality component-level repairs on computers, peripherals, notebooks and portables,” said Zaccaria.
